Hello from DC!
We’ve officially hit 1,000 subs, and I can’t believe how much this newsletter has grown since I relaunched it in the Spring!
And with that milestone comes some ~personnel news~: This newsletter is adding a paid feature. As you know, I curate these deals myself — combing through hundreds of routes to find the best deals. It takes hours of research and fact-checking.
Adding an affordable paid feature gets you more great deals — from flights, hotels, points and miles, and more.
So, here’s how it’ll break down:
Free subscriber: ($0/month) — Flight deals, no hotel deals.
Paid subscriber, monthly: ($7/month) — Flight and hotel deals, subscriber-only deals, travel news and commentary, trip itineraries, and how to save money (and earn points or airline miles) using your credit cards.
Paid subscriber, annually: ($70/year) — Flight and hotel deals, subscriber-only deals, travel news and commentary, trip itineraries, and how to save money (and earn points or airline miles) using your credit cards.
Travel With Vikkie Founding Member: ($210/year) — Everything a paid subscriber receives plus free travel planning and consulting.
I hope you’ll consider a paid subscription!
Today’s theme: well-planned travel. If you’ve been paying attention, you know travel is a mess. Flights are expensive, and airlines are dealing with staffing issues that are causing flights to be delayed or canceled altogether. It’s not fun.
That also means that spontaneous, last-minute travel can be, at best, frustrating and, at worst, impossible.
Because I want to help you travel the way that makes the most sense for you (and avoid headaches), today’s newsletter features deals as much as 10 months out to give you time to plan and to give the industry (hopefully) time to stabilize itself.
Let’s get it!
Travel With Vikkie
Deal of the day: Atlanta to São Paulo for $385 round-trip on Copa Airlines economy for March 2023 dates (EXTREMELY CHEAP)
Both legs include long layovers in Panama City, which is Copa’s main base.
Houston to Dubai for $595 round-trip on KLM economy for May 2023 dates
The outbound leg includes a 7-hour layover in Amsterdam.
The ticket includes 1 free carry-on and 2 free checked bags.
Newark to London for $785 round-trip on Icelandair BUSINESS CLASS for April 2023 dates
Icelandair’s business class isn’t a lie-flat seat, but you get more legroom, plus 1 carry-on and 2 free checked bags.
Plus, you can add a long layover to Reykavik on the return!
San Fransisco to Osaka for $794 round-trip on Philippine Airlines economy for April 2023 dates
Japan is now open for travel for those on guided group tours. There’s no indication when the country will relax this rule, so if you’re considering visiting, I suggest booking your flight far in advance.
The return flight includes a 9-hour daytime layover in Manila.
Washington-Dulles to Accra for $826 on TAP Air Portugal for May 2023 dates
This is an incredible deal because you can add a long layover in Lisbon on the outbound route.
Los Angeles to Cape Town for $869 round-trip on KLM economy for February 2023 dates
This price is good for dates through next May, so don’t worry if the dates in February don’t work.
The return leg includes a 23-hour (!) layover in Amsterdam, which is more than enough time to see the city and catch your flight home.
Chicago to Paris for $1,029 round-trip in Air France Premium Economy (EXTRA RECLINING SEATS!) for March 2023 dates
AF Premium Economy on the Boeing 787 is in its own separate cabin, directly behind business class, with seats in a 2-3-2 layout.
You get significantly more legroom in Premium Economy — the seat reclines at 130 degrees — and your pick of 4 a la carte menus to choose from on the flight from Paris.
As always, if you see any deals send them my way — I’ll be sure to hat-tip you! And if you like this newsletter format be sure to shoot me a message if you want to see more deals like these!
